Got a "new" engine for my wife's 82 C30 dump truck. Timing set is worn out. Engine number is 10243880 (vortek, correct?). Cam sprocket is 340235. Year? Car it's out of? Project is weeks overdue. Mercy, please.

That's a later casting block. Cast in Mexico. Could be an L31 or could be a crate motor. Could be Vortec or not.

You need to get the cylinder head casting number and the stamped number on the pad in front of the passenger side cylinder head. What intake is on it? Does it have a roller cam in it? Mechanical fuel pump provisions?

Pics of everything would help in identifying all of this.

Cylinder head number 14102193. Stamped number is V1005PHA. Didn't pull the cam. Will it have the fuel pump eccentric?
