I am new to the sight and engine building. I have a 1985 K20 with a10 bolt Corp in front and 14 bolt in the rear with 4:10 gear ratio. It has a 350 with 100k on it with a TH350 Doesn't smoke or burn any oil but has 8 manifold bolts broke in the drivers side head. Since the head has to come off to drill the bolts I figured now is a time for a change. The HP sucks torque sucks mpg sucks so I want to wake this sled up. I want to keep the 4:10 and the tranny for now. I need a good engine build. 350 355 383. I obviously want the torque there and the HP and the sound but I want it to make sense. I'm keeping AC on the truck and I want to run pump gas not racing fuel. I want to be able to hook up a trailer if need be and pull a car or equipment. Upping the mpg wouldnt hurt my feelings. Please suggest a resource or your own opinions about the build. I would like to stay at or under $2500 and using my block but I want to do it right and will spend some more. Thanks in advance.

Same truck i have but mines got the SM465 4 speed in it. You have any mods done to it like lift or bigger tires where you would need more torque?

355, its only a .030 over bore, still uses the factory crank and rods. Great power, and low torque. My 355 was putting out around 375-400hp, and lit up the 32's just fine, but she has died down and now needs gone thrue again. But my truck is the 3rd vehicle this engines been in.
