this truck is the worst ive ever seen... it has no rust =)
but....
the fuse box and almost every connection so far has been chalky with white and green corrosion...
i had to take apart and sand the back of the entire circuit pattern and the bulbs to get all the warning and gauge lights to work... the gauges themselves are too corroded to function...

but the cigarette lighter still works xD

any suggestions for dealing with this another way?

otherwise its going to be hunting in salvage yards or OVERPAYING for reproduction electronics

Mine is pretty much the same way, thought about the junk yards but probably won't find any better, so I'm just gonna get an 18 circuit and start from scratch and when I'm done it'll be all new and reliable..

"18 circuit" as in.... a whole new wiring harness & fuse box?

Yeah, just a universal harness, since I'll be doing some changes and additions I don't need a factory replacement.

Try vinegar? I know they make sprays to take care of this but are expensive. Seeing this post reminded me the day when Mom told me to pour some of my coke on the battery terminal because it wouldn't start. So I googled it and saw tons of vinegar tricks. Maybe put in a spray bottle? Never tried it, but will next time.

Vinegar is a good rust remover but it takes time, usually a 24hr soak if it's not too heavy.

i was able to find a "nice" junkyard truck with super clean gauges.... i took the whole circuit print off of the back and all the light bulb housings, and swapped it with mine.
using a TON of conductive grease..... all of my lights AND GAUGES now work :)

as for the fuse box.... electrical connector cleaner spray, and a TON more conductive electric grease... it works miracles.

like a chef with one of those big frosting bags... full of electric conductivity grease.
