I fully restored a 74 step side that I now want to drop the stance. I want to run the stock rally wheels. I have a set of four 15x8's. I am thinking about a 2.5" drop spindle up front with a 5" axle flip in the rear to get a level stance. I don't want to cut the bed or notch the frame. I need advice on parts but especially tires. I want to run BF Goodrich Radial T/A's. Need the best fit for a fatty muscle look that won't rub. I am willing to pick up a set of 15x10 aftermarkets for the back. The only ones I can find through JEG's and other places have a 5" rear offset (basically a centered wheel). Some places tell me unless I do a 5.5" back spacing it will rub the step fender when going over bumps. All advice welcomed.

I can't help with the wheel and tires specs, still a newb to the square body scene, but hot damn that is a beautiful rig! Can't wait to see how it turns out!
I agree! Shes a looker! My fave square combo, round eye stepper!

Cut 2 coils in front for 4" drop; relocated spring hangers in rear and removed a leaf for about 6" in rear. Total cost was about $1.38 for grade 8 bolts and nuts plus front end alignment.

Factory tire/wheel setup is LR60-15 Goodyears on the 15x7 aluminum wheel.

I’m in the same boat. I ordered the truck with heavy suspension. Being a little (a lot) older I would like a softer suspension. The fronts after 180k are soft enough. Contemplating re-arching the rears to level out and soften the rear. I am running 275/60/15’s on the stock ralllys. On the forum guys are running and recommending 255/70/15’s. I think leveling out with taller tires might fill the bill. Let me know what you think. After keeping the truck bone stock 43 years, resisting any mods other than the stereo, I hesitate in actually lowering it.

This was 2.5” spindles with 1 coil cut for about 4.5” up front. 6” flip kit in the back. 15x8s all around with 235/75/15s. It rubbed pretty good up front. Had I kept the rallies, I was gonna do a 245/60 and 275/60 combo

I think your truck would be perfect with the currant stance, and just a little bit taller tires.
Thanks. I've gone back and forth about what to do and how far to drop it and I just couldn't land on something I'd be happy with. So I just ordered a set of 4 BF Goodrich Radial T/A 265/60/15's to fill out the stance a little better and am going to leave it where it is for now.
Thanks for the input.

You have a beautiful truck! Something about the early round eyed Squares with stepsides is really good looking. Whatever you do with it you have a sweet rig.
It will look really badass with a drop and your ralleyes, like @Keith Seymore 's stepper.

That’s why I’m keeping my stock 15x6 rallies up front, with a 215/70 or 205/70 to match the rear 15x8 with 255/70 or 285/70 rears. Lucked into a friend wanting to slam her late father’s round eye, willing to do some wheel trading. Hopefully doing the physical swap tomorrow or Monday.
