The doors on my 86 fit pretty flush except for the lower rear corner of the driver's door. It sticks out from the sill may 1/4-3/8"

An old motorhead told me he's adjusted many doors in his past by inserting a short length of 2 X 4 between the jamb and the door and then applying pressure against the part of the door sticking out....essentially warping it slightly.

Sounds extreme to me......does anybody know of this method?

Is the sheet metal so thin that it'll easily warp a bit?

I know its a subjective question but would it take a great deal of force to move it a 1/4" or so?

No, not really. I would gently push then check then push then check untill it's there. You may need to increase the force as needed to make it move. You will be suprised how far you can move it.

You would be surprised how many times at the factory that the 2x4 method was used. I knew a guy who worked at a GM plant, and doors were adjusted that way far more than we know.

Your friend would be correct.

The fenders were adjusted that way, too.
