I saw this picture in an online auction for a 93 Dodge pickup. I was thinking I would much rather have this than the cardboad box GM provided. Does anyone know if is this a Dodge part, or some aftermarket company?? I would assume if its is plastic and aftermarket then it would have a logo on it, which makes me think it is a factory part.

Granted I don't know those trucks very well but that looks aftermarket to me. Most of those that I've seen sold aftermarket don't have a logo that you can see from the top side at least

I’m not sure on the 1st gens, but the 2nd gen single cabs could have this behind seat stowage. And the bins/nets on the rear cab wall.

A browse through the 1990 Ram brochure shows that yes, that is a factory piece.

Well I'll be darned. Next time I see one of these in the yard, I'm gonna have to take a look. I bet that would fit a square as well

My 2015 3500 has one behind the seat also. Though I would think the first gen (1989 through 1993) would be a better fit for our square bodies, maybe a second gen.

if first gen is 89-93 (i've also seen it described at 81-94), what years would you consider Sencond Gen.

Second gen is 94-02

I never understood the silly "gen" things with trucks. Especially the Dodge trucks.

There were Dodge trucks looonnng before the "first gen".

while looking for a dodge storage tray today at the salvage yard, i found one for a OBS. Win win. Amazingly they had just put out an 82 SWB 2wd square. looking pretty picked over prior to putting it out. How much should i pay for an old school sliding back glass? and for a pretty clean front bumper with signals and bumper guards?

I would much rather have this than the cardboard box GM provided.
The cardboard failed right away when using the shelf to hold anything.

I cut a finished 1x6 piece of oak the full length as the shelf. One 1/4" pan head bolt each side through the door jam to hold it in place. Painted black, it matched the truck. Piece of rubber mat on the shelf. This keeps anything you stow behind the seat on the shelf. I also painted the bolt head black. Never even see the bolt when you open the door.

It’s in reference to the Ram branding.

Dodge had used Ram hood ornaments back in the 30s to 50s, but for the 1981 model year is when they began being badged as a Ram pickup.

1980 they began referring to them as Ram tough, but no Ram badging:

But 1981 is when they began wearing the name Ram on the trucks:

Most people leave out the Ram part of X gen Dodge Ram.

1981-93 first gens still used the old D/W codes, like C/K. 1994-02 second gens began using chassis codes, BR/BE. However that isn’t in reference to two or four wheel drive, a BR is a single cab, BE is an extended cab. Or in proper lingo, club cab or quad cab.

People would probably look at me funny if I said my BE Dodge instead of 2nd gen.
