Hey Everyone,

New here, just got ourselves another GMC to build up (still in the US, starting the journey down next week). We were looking for a 73-79 but just couldn't find the right one, ended up with a rust free 81 GMC K2500.

Looking forward to learning all the little tips and tricks on these rigs, both the wife and I absolutely love the old square bodies.

Our last one was a 92 GMC High Sierra 2500HD 2wd with the mighty 6.2, my buddy had an 85 Chev Silverado that was lifted on 3/4 ton axles, 36s, 454 Vortec etc... so of course I need to build one bigger and better, plus it will be our promo / tow rig.

We run an international offroad show called Offroad Addiction TV so will be mainly using it for promo and to tow my Suzuki around the place, maybe a little wheeling here and there if I can fit it on our trails haha.

Cheers,

Caleb

Welcome and you picked the right place. They have some knowledgeable grease monkeys here and a few bone heads. All in all most people are helpful.

Welcome! Your new rig looks solid. It’s morning time so it took my third try to think about what your title meant. The first two tries I thought you were talking about the fruit or the bird. Whoops. Then it hit me. I think it’s great that people abroad enjoy our old iron. American cars have a bad name now, and much of that is warranted, but there was a time when they were the best in the world. The GMT400s are decent in my opinion, and the previous styles since WWII are excellent, but the square body may have been the best truck GM ever came up with.

Thanks, yeah my buddy went to look at it for me and says it's mint. Desert truck it's whole life. Took me 3 weeks solid to find it, as we have stupid rules down here. The GVWR must be under 7700lbs to keep it left hand drive, most I found came out at 7800lb or 8600lbs so that ruled them out (I found some absolute GEMS along the way).

I have a love for these squares, you can keep your fancy junk... I'll take a ratty old square any day!

We have LPG down here, pretty similar really. Not very popular anymore, haven't seen it around in a while.

Wish it was cos our gas price is over $6/ Gal
