was looking yesterday at the drivers side tank. but can't find where the grounds are for the tank. is it accessible w/o dropping the tank? if i need to drop tank, i think the cat converter heat shield is in the way.

lots of threads on bad grounds, no so much on their actual location

The ones I've messed with, the wire went directly to the top of the frame rail. The eyelet is fastened down by a bolt with a 1/2 inch head. A ratchet wrench is handy here.

pulling the bed was my other idea. or at least removing the bolts and raising the front of it. might end up being a project for next summer.

i did see the wire where it went to the sender, but it was a "y" or some sort of rubber boot connection and i couldn't see where the other end went.

Probably have to clean off some dirt/mud but, it should be inside the frame rail, within a foot or so of the sender unit, a foot or so frontwards or rear wards inside the frame rail.

I will get a mirror down there and look.

How many bolts hold the plastic shield on? I am going to remove that so i can see if the tank leaks once i put some fuel in it
