Hi guys. Its been awhile since my last post. I was in the process of building a 383 and it turns out the block is no good. So I've got a 400 SBC thats bored .060 (412ci)over now im putting together. And yes its been sonic checked LOL. My Parts are Edelbrock E street heads 70cc chambers 185cc runner. Currently 3.08 gears, stock converter, Th400. 9.5 compression. Rochester carb, Edelbrock performer intake. So Just wondering is this cam going to totally kill this motor or should I use it? Looking for mostly torque. But I don't want it to feel like a dump truck either.

Should work well. The gearing will hurt your towing abilities more than anything.

I would more concerned about using a 400 block...
A different subject, oh well...
Too bad your 383 block is done. That is such a lovely combo with decent heads.
Do you still have your 383 crank?

Does Edelbrock have matched head and cam combos? If so, that a good place to look for cam specs since your running these heads.

That cam should work fine with 3.08 gears and stock converter because it will have the low end torque you need. However, if you swap in 3.73 gears (or even 4.10), then I would probably go up to a cam with duration of about 214-218 @ .050.

Are you sure you are going to have 9.5 compression with 70cc chamber heads? Most original engines had about 8.2 compression with 75cc heads, so you usually need at least 64cc heads to get another point of compression.
