I have a 77 C20 and do drive it at night sometimes. The dash gauge lights are not very bright ( I know this is common). I plan to take the gauge cluster out for a tach conversion. I thought at the same time I could upgrade the light bulbs to brighter ones. Has anyone done this? If so shed some light on us (pun intended).

If you do the 168s, also do the Silverstar bulbs. Night and day (haha) difference between the tired old bulbs in there and those.

You got any pics of that?
Not in my square. I had them in my 87 celebrity wagon and my 90 gmt400. Ive been looking for them for my 78 but no luck. I made my girlfriend put them in her jeep, now that she has a traverse i may try to convince her... lol

Total pitch black in garage with just the parking lights. These are the 194/168 LED replacements. These dim a little bit but not much. I wanted them bright as possible so it didn’t matter to me either.

Don’t mess with the light blue on the reflective side of the steelie.

I repainted the light blue bezel background a bright white, and got a set of replacement LEDs online. Its way brighter than stock, and my LEDs are dimmable.

Thanks for the post. Are the 168s available at the local parts stores ie Oreillys, Auto Zone etc or do I need to order them.

Both 194 and 168 bulbs are available at most parts store, but 194 is more common. IIRC, the 168 is a fairly common 5W buib used in some foreign cars, but the 3W 194 is more common for American cars.

You should be able to find them in the stores, but if you order them online, you’d likely save some money.

I used dimmable LED bulbs. Huge difference.
