Dash Pad

Well the dash pad is on and it cleared bot sides. I def need a new dash pad so don't mind the busted dash. That will def be on the to "To Get" list. Not great pics but I think you can see they clear. I couldn't get a good pic of the left side but it cleared the same as the right side.

What kind of radio is that? Did you have to hack your dash to install it? I want one of those with those speakers.

It is the Kenwood KFC-X996. Yes I had to cut the dash. A dremel and a steady hand will make a clean cut.

That explains it then. When I looked up that radio compatibility with my truck it said it was NOT compatible. I need a radio that will not require dash hacking. I have an original working DELCO radio in my truck now, but I have just about decided on a modern one.

Good luck finding one. The only thing I have found is either one of the Classic ones from places like LMC that run about $300 or a real pice of crap Pyle for $20. Dual sold one through Autozone for under $30 that was a good basic Dual Post radio with tape deck and an AUX out but when I went to get one, they told me that they were discontinued. The Pyle (of Crap) has some horrible reviews so for just a solid stereo, you just about have to cut the dash. I am still contemplating this...

Mine was working fine too but wanted a modern one. I debated forever and everything out there without having to cut was not looking good

I may end up going with a radio delete plate and install the aftermarket radio UNDER the dash like I did with my Jeep J10. Radio delete plates are also good for drilling and mounting aftermarket clocks, gauges, compasses, auxiliary switches, etc. I seem to remember a place on the internet from years ago where you could send them your vehicle type and they would sell you an AFTERMARKET stereo that would fit in your particular vehicle WITHOUT hacking. They were for Mustangs to Mopars, i.e. just about anything. Cannot remember where I saw it though.

I recently found some NOS GM dash speakers and brackets that I am tempted to buy, but I wonder if LMC's modern day advanced ones are better.
