cranks but wont start

Hey guys new to this.. I got a problem.... Ok 82 c10 cranks all day but won't start. Replace coil,wires, starter, cap:birgits_tiredcoffee and rotor.. I even replaced timing chain and gears.. What do I do??? :005:

Check the ignition module in the distributor. This same question has come up a lot lately.

It has fuel and spark.. Spark is very weak tho..

Weak huh. A bad module usually causes no spark. Have you tried swapping out the entire distributor with a known good one? Sometimes that's the easiest thing to try (but I always have extras laying around).

I got a distributor today from a friend and was going to install in the morning. Thanks for responding so quickly.

Weak huh. A bad module usually causes no spark. Have you tried swapping out the entire distributor with a known good one? Sometimes that's the easiest thing to try (but I always have extras laying around).

i agree, maybe recheck your dtc and just retime it. coul;d be 180" off... timing for sure if youve got gas and spark,,, twist the distributer while youre cranking the motor over

9x out of 10, on an HEI system, if you have both fuel and spark, then the problem is the ignition module. Let us know if you need help replacing that. Many times, Auto Zone or those places that test starters and alternators can also test modules. But, I've also seen modules test GOOD, but were actually bad.

You might try just to take the module down and have it tested. You don't want just to keep buying a bunch of parts to throw at it until something works. You'll go broke doing it that way.

if you have the spare dizzy, throw it in there nad see what happens. As long as you know its a GOOD one.

I got her running!!!! I put the distributor in 180 out,but now she's running like a DREAM... I WANT TO THANK EVERYONE FOR THEIR HELP AND REPLIES:wave:..

Did you replace the Distributor? Or did you just twist while starting?
