Another thing to add before I drop a set of lifters in. I take everyone and stand it on end on a piece of glass or a mirror and check to make sure it is not flat on the bottom. They should be able to wobble around on the dome with one finger and no effort.

Also be sure they don't fit in the bores too snug, other wise when they heat up and the clearance goes away, they won't spin. If they don't spin they wipe, which destroys the cam and lifters.Dont just cram them in the lifter bores, see how the feel, maybe you need to cleanup the lifter bores a little.

Hi everyone.
Just wondered if anyone has a set of these fitted. Or an oppinion?

Xtreme Energy™ DLC Hydraulic Flat Tappet Lifters for GM Applications

Diamond like carbon coating on the lifter face of these Comp Cams lifters.
In the blurb it says almost eliminates break in. Really?

I don't believe and wouldn't trust it. A cam is work hardened by heat, oil quenching and having pressure applied. I don't see how you will work harden something without working it. That's why once the cam has some miles on it the chances if it living a long life are greatly increased. Also why the first 20 minute of a cams life are the most important. I think today unless,I was doing a fresh build, just doing a beater cam swap. I'd swap cams and timing set that's it 1000 miles a couple of months, sometime at my convenience then I'd do the heads or springs. Break in springs are in the neighbor hood of 120lbs. I doubt wore out stock sbc springs are that much
