Here are some "prized possession" 73-76 GMC grilles with the 350 emblem. The other is a 76 Silverado.

That surround is 1979 only. The only year for round eyes with the signals incorporated into the surround.
Also, my uncle had a '77 K20 w/400, and he bought it new that way. I believe that 1977 could have been the last year of the engine displacement in the grille. I don't recall seeing them in '78, and I know the '79's never had them.

That surround is '79, and also '80 without the chrome grille option. The hood is '73-'78. If I saw the underside of the hood, I could say if it was specifically the '77-'78 version or not. The grille is '75-'76.

I won't bet the farm on it, but I'm 99.9% sure that the engine call outs were not used at all after the '76 model year.

Here's the hodge podge of parts that is my '84 C10. It features an early 454 emblem in the '79 grille. It's a tiny little thing, but it's amazing how many people actually notice it. People tend not to ask if it actually has a 454, the bark of the exhaust usually clues them in.

@Strick Yes, the '73 & '74 have the open three hole grilles. The '75 has the same grille as the '76.

I wish I had one of these pictures for the GMC's:

Great information in that Thom Taylor illustration...but the sculptured hood front is '79 and '80 only. Our '77 and '78 trucks did not have that, but the '79 did.
The typeface/font for the numbers on the 73-74 engine emblem is more Old Western looking, the 75-up one is a different style. Hard to explain, but ya know it when ya see it.....

The 79-80 trucks need some specific info. They do have the additional body line in the hood face & have the headlamp surround the park lamp too. The Silverado or High Sierra get the rectangle headlamp in 80. Unique for that one year. Here is my 80 Sierra with round headlamp.
