Cheaper Power Window Motor Replacement Option

Instead of shelling out $60 bucks a pop to LMC for a new power window motor, an alternative option for us struggling, pay check to pay check, PAP part finding guys is to find used motors out of junkyard 2nd row door Burb or CC doors. Those rear door motors see much less use and abuse over the years. And will bolt right into the front door regulators.

I've always just bought them from Advance and Autozone... they really aren't any cheaper though. Just convenient.

It's funny you mention the rear doors. Of the 4 Burbs I've owned, the rears were often the slow ones. Maybe rolling them down a lot for dogs to ride?

But, it's the same motor in most any 80's or early 90's GM car, so getting rear window motors from a car with small windows is probably a really safe bet.

@bucket thanks for the input. My last two Burbs are the only ones I had that had power windows and the rears always worked flawlessly. I was just brainstorming and that fact of experience popped out at me so I am happy I have the spares out of the '89. My pass side front motor is whooped. I'd rather invest the money in new window seals. Kind of a hard hit to spend $60 bucks for a motor and $40 for seals at the same time.
