Howdy and cool truck! There's just so much to like about that one!

I'm very curious though... Is there a story behind your user name? Lol.

We don't use salt on the roads here in the winter.
However due to its life at the coast, there are rust issues all over it.
Though not as bad as the swiss cheese truck I looked at before this one.
Every panel on it was missing loads of steel...

I had a similar issue with a Trans Am I bought from Jacksonville Beach, FL. The sea air is rough on bodies, too.

Thank you sir.
The name was from when I first joined a forum back in 2004 for Volkswagens.
I wanted a funny name, not just "1973VW" or something similar.
But it had to have a unique style as that is how I am.
I wanted it to leave you smiling when you ask the question "Why Catbox?"
When you realize that you are smiling, that is what I was shooting for.
So for the last 14 years that has been the online name that I have gone by for thousands of posts on many forums.

We pulled the canopy off it last night to make it easier for us to trade 2 mowers for an old Toro Tiller.
Junior loves to work on things with small engines, so I encourage it.
He picked one of the mowers up for $5 and made it run well.
The other we picked up for free with a broken drive shaft.
The guy said "I was just mowing along and it fell off."
Hmmmmm.....

Oh and here is a photo of my VW that is my daily driver.
I live out in Suburbia and drive it into downtown in traffic everyday.
Fun stuff I tell ya...

Hi, looks great. Make sure to check those brake lines if they are steel. My truck runs great, it's a 1975 GMC dually C35 Sierra, Camper Special. 454 engine. I'm piggy backing onto your post, because I can't find another way to get on here. Can anyone tell me how to value my truck? I had a previous insurance company set a 11,900 value, but my current gives me approximately 4000. Since I can't find even one for sale, I'm at a loss here.
Any help would be appreciated. I had some body damage on the front passenger quarter panel, then the tow truck backed into it later, supposedly setting the repair at 75% of the value (around 3600). Of course I disagree with the valuation, but not sure how to prove otherwise. Insurance states it is due to rust, but the truck runs and performs as it should.
Thanks for any direction you can offer, and my apologies for trying to hijack your post.

Try for classic car stated value insurance,

I just a week ago picked up another square body truck.
This will be the 3rd one that I have had.
It is as the title describes.

It was built in the Owosa factory just outside of Toronto.
From what I can see it lived in British Columbia until around 1990 or so.
At that time it came into the states to live out at the Oregon coast for a while.
The people I bought it from have simply used it as a very occasional use farm truck.
Now I have it to do all of my hauling chores around the house and to give it a good life.

It has a rebuilt 30 over 454 to make it a 461.
Transmission is the dumptruck like SM465, so it will never break.
Just shift like a school bus...

Soon it will need a new exhaust as the duals that are under it now are too small and also rotten.
It is missing one of the tailpipes and the mufflers are garbage.
But it works for now.
Just last night I picked up a set of Flowmaster 2 chambers off of craigslist.
So we are underway for better breathing.

Some photos of the yellow beast...

I was at the Powell's Book store that is just up the street from my work office and found this gem.
It is the GM Service manual for the 1978 Light Truck line up.
Mine is a 1979, so most of it will be close enough for me to be able to use.
I also found and bought one for my sons buddy that has a 1974 C-10.

A cool thing that came with the manual was the little photo envelope that was taped inside the front cover. Turns out that it has 4 photos in as well as the negative strips for the photos.

The photos show a 1978 truck way back in 1979.
The trucks plate frame shows that it was purchased in the city in which I live.
Just fun stuff.
