can this be corrected?

I hope y'all can see it, but when my cousin took his tires off of these rims, he got a little happy with the tire iron and bent the lip out just a little. I was wondering if it could be bent back in with a rubber mallet? Or should I just run it as is. I'd really like to use these mickey thompsons and get them out of the shop.

I'd try it - but don't go by me. I break a lot of the things that I try to fix.

Maybe give these guys a chance at it:

Thanks for the link, I'll have to check them out. The rims on my 06 need some attention too, it looks like someone attacked all for with sandpaper. Not really sure how that happened. I'm pretty sure this is the first bent aluminum rim I've ever seen, I always thought they would just crack.

I'll never understand how the "aluminum can't bend, it cracks" thing got started. How many times has every person that believed this crushed a pop can?

Anyway, yes aluminum can bend and aluminum wheels get bent all the time. That bend in the pic looks very minor, if the cosmetic flaw does not bother you, it will still seal and balance just fine. If you want to try fixing it, try a sledgehammer and a block of wood. If not careful though, it could do more harm.

Thanks bucket. Yea I was mainly concerned with the tire not sealing properly more than anything. Theyre not going on a show truck. I was just excited about some free rims. As long as it seals it will be OK. I'll still check with that company, just curios to see what it will cost to get a set refurbished.
