This fell out of the top of the transmisiion or out of the body when I passed the new speedometer cable housing over the transmission. Is it important and if so where does it go? Seems to be all plastic , top is loose like it might be a vent?

It's from the transmission then, how do I figure out where it goes, I can't see up there.

You'll need an Inspection Mirror.

I think it's from the transfer case. Which model do you have?

I believe all of GM's autos used just a simple little plastic line as a breather?

I got a pic of my old 203 handy. The vent is on the rubber hose... right where the speedo cable goes.
