can i safely move spring perch?

Hey guys, can you safley move rear spring perches back a bit more so you could use 56 inch springs?? my truck is supposed to have 52 but i bought 56 2 years ago by mistake and i do not want to spend another $350.


My idea was to pop out the rivets and move the perch what i measured 2 inches further back.

i dont see why it would not, the ride hight you stay the same to.

In my experience there are two sets of holes punched into the frame for the different spring lengths. So, I don't think there'd be an issue moving it to the second set of holes if yours has them. Just use grade 8 bolts putting it back together.

cut a slot of x in the rivet head then air chisel/hammer ir off, or grind the heads off or backs and knock them out.

then move it back, drill holes if need be and use grade 8's.

lmc sells grade 8 kits for replacing hangers and we've changed a few and just used bolts and nuts, works just fine.

Should be 4 inches back, as was stated, the other set of holes are probably there already.

the reason i am doing this is because my rear springs are pushing the shackle wayy to far back to where the spring is resting on it. dont ask me how i missed this for 2 years but its my mistake. I know that the shackle is supposed to stand up straight and my inst haha

That's no problem like the other guys said your frame should have a second set of holes predrilled from the factory.

just out of curiosity, is there a difference in ride quality between the 52" and 56" springs? any other pros or cons?

56's are said to have a smoother ride to them. And they will flex easyer

that's what i was thinking. i have the 56" on my suburban and its very smooth, but of course they are new rough country 4" lift springs :D
