spindles, calipers, I would want to find out if the ball joints are the same between the 2 first. If they are not the same ball joint then you might also have to replace the upper and lower control arms.

The only time I ever seen it done, and that doesn't mean it can't be done another way, a guy swapped the whole front subframe. Took the motor out, and lifted the rails out of the subframe and rolled it out, and rolled the new subframe under it and bolted it back in. IIRC, he actually did the opposite though. Went from 1/2 to 3/4.

I think the upper BJ's are the same, but the lowers are differant. Not sure on the spindle height either, but I'd imagine you might have to change to 1/2 ton springs too.

early classic makes a conversion spindle, where i wouldn't have to change anything else. i was just curious to if there was another way. the reason for wanting to go to 5, is wheel options.

Actually, you can find many more wheels these days in 6 lug as opposed to the 5x5. If it was me and I was doing a lug conversion that's the route I'd go but that's just me. Either way, keep us posted and post up a write up thread for when you do the conversion, man :High 5:

x2 on that. Outside of the truck rallies and vintage wheels, it's near impossible to find a nice new set of 5x5 aftermarkets. I'd go to 6-lug too. Just my 2 cents.......

I'm kinda old school myself. I think I want centerlines or Weld wheels.

Nope, not bad at all. Being a shortbed.... Not that I'm a shortbed fan, but I know they are more rare, I think I'd have to put that one together and find me another donor. Longbeds are out there to be had for cheap. Also pretty common the shortbeds have tall gear rear ends for certain, where with a long bed, you have a better chance for some 3.42 or 3.73 gears.
