A little '87 C10 with a 4.3 would make a nice run around truck.

Makes no sense. 
On the highway, I got upper 20's out of my 4.3/5-speed S-10. Figure in a little more weight and some wind drag, I think low to mid 20's would still be no problem.
I'da been in some deep **** if I got in a wreck. I was freaking the whole time wondering if they had GPS locate on the car. That was a few years ago so apparently not. Who knows, it may have had GPS too and they just don't check it unless the car wasn't returned or was reported stolen. And it's a K5 converted to a K10...
