I've always used an acid based cleaner like this but, you will have to polish it afterwards. It works great leaving the aluminum almost white looking when it's good and clean. It works on anything aluminum like valve covers, alt and other things under the hood. Aluminum trim cleans up great with this too.

Be careful with it. Do t get it on you and be in a well ventilated area. You do t wanna breath it in.

My slot mags are satin type finish and I used a green scotch brite pad and they came out pretty good. Actually they are on my grandson's S10(Kooper)

I cleaned the wheels on my C20 that were in similar condition by hand.
It took FOREVER too but it sure as hell didn't cost much.
Five bucks?

I don't have an easy solution but I have one...

This half of this one wheel took ONE HOUR using Turtle Wax chrome polish and elbow grease with a red shop rag.

My buddies at O'Reilly's let me try ALLLLL of the wheel cleaner garbage they have for sale on the shelf and NOTHING. worked.

I keep tellin myself it's a "labor of love".

Right?

This is the result you want...yes!...get to scrubbin and rubbin. There was also a toothbrush involved in the later stages..you don't have to use your best one haha.
I've probably got 10 or 12 hours in cleaning them wheels. Once every thirty/forty years can't hurt.

I bought new, blank, stainless steel center caps off eBay. They look good- not too shiny. Your center could be blue. I run Corvette crossed flag stickers from eBay.

OK this is what I was kinda just thinking maybe. Some sort of compound and scotch Brite.
Doesn't have to be perfectly polished, just would like it to be better than the current state they're in.
