Body Lift Question...

You got most of it figured out.Put a 3 "on my 1985 K20 350 motor manual tranny i bought new and wish i had not.Just the 3" offset of the radiator causes it to overheat when ideling even when you modify the shroud larger. You cannot lower the radiator on my model year. today i am considering having putting in a racing radiator and booster fan to try to get more air flow.I run 44" swampers with a 5" suspension,3" body lift and cut out fender flares.I changed the radiator to a new OEM and years double flushed the radiator and it made no difference.

Leave your mechanical fan and install electric fans as additional fans. The electrics do good in stop and go idling etc the factory fan works better above 20 mph. 2 good fans diagonal on the radiator as pushers. I wouldn't change the radiator if it's in good shape. Look at how GM did it factory on HD cooling systems electric to supplement the mechanical. Also checkbthe fan clutch. Also making the opening on a shroud larger defeats the shrouds purpose,you need to try to lower the shroud,but with the shroud setup incorrectly,air gets pulled through the fan swirls back around and gets pulled into the fan again so you don't get much if any airflow.

Thanks for the info. Luckily the body lift went pretty smooth and visually you can hardly tell. I relocated the bumpers so that also made a massive difference. My truck already didn't have a fan shroud on it so I haven't had any cooling issues after about 300 miles put on it thankfully. I run Water Wetter in the truck and also in my 67 Camaro that definitely makes a difference on the 100 degree days out here.

A little off topic but if you do a three inch body lift on a 67 - 72 chevy, you won't need the high hump floor section for clearance on a 4x4
