The original blower motor for my 73 stopped. It doesn't have ac. The only motor I could find was one with the hole for venting, the original one didn't have the vent. Now my question: Should I cover the hole on the new motor or just leave it like it is?

I'd cover it with something. It may not be that critical though.

I replaced one on a 72 I use to have and I don't remember it having a vent. My 74 does have a vent so you may can check out a different model one. I usually take my old one with me to auto parts and match to new one. You should really be able to find the same one. I got both of mine at NAPA. Some of the other auto parts did not show one in their system.

If it’s like the one that has the two holes for venting, I’d buy a vent tube for it. It’s subtle, but keeping the motor just a little bit cooler might help it last longer. I’m visualizing the 1980s blower motor. If the older one only has one hole, disregard.

I've already installed the motor. it has one hole and I'll most likely just find a tube for it.
