Hi there. New to the forum. I just bought a 85 gmc k2500. I'm going through the wiring and have most of it working. But the turn signals won't work in the front. If I remove the front turn signal bulbs, then the rear ones blink and everything is fine. But when I put the front bulbs in, it doesn't blink, they just stay lit up. Also, the front are super bright when they are in the "locked in" position in the socket. If I put the bulb in the other way, the one that it doesn't click in, then they blink like they should. The front bulbs are 2057. Not sure what is wrong here.

Also, I put a tester on the front socket when the bulb wasn't in there and it blinked fine

Try using 1157 bulbs.

I tried that today and the same thing happened unfortunately. What else could it be? I don't understand how with a test l8ght it can work but with the bulb in it doesn't

Where did you ground your test light? Do the running lights work?

I grounded the test light on the battery, and the running lights work yes

I'll have to try that when I get home today. So if it doesn't work then, that would mean the ground is the issue right? I'll give that a shot

Could be. Has someone messed around with the wiring up front? The side markers are tied into the turn signal wiring as well.

Yeah the previous owner definitely messed with the wiring in the engine bay, but the turn signals look factory. The side markers work. Everything works fine until I put the bulb in the front turn signals. Thanks for the link, I'll take a look!

Thought I would provide an update, I replaced the flasher and now everything works as it should. I guess I figured because some of the bulbs would flash it couldn't be the flasher, but live and learn I guess. Thanks for the suggestions though!

Great, Thanks for the update. It's always nice to know what FIXED a problem.

I wouldn't have expected the flasher relay to be bad either since some lights were flashing. I didn't realize the flasher had a way to separate the lights.
