Assuming you're talking about this mod on a pickup? It will be near impossible to keep the same filler hole location due to how high the wheel well is compare to the filler neck and the gas has to go DOWN into the tank when filling it. You will have to relocated you filler location as well.

Might look at a F*rd filler tube for a truck with dual tanks, I think one of the tubes is very long. Don't have a clue about the diameter though, gonna be a real crap shoot to get this done.

agreed you'd have to route it to where it would not be downhill and allow the fuel into the tank, it'd either be uphill over the wheel arch, and hard to get inside the bedside, or it'd be down under the truck and have to snake around everything under the truck.

You may want to find another tank itself and make it work.

If I end up doing a Blazer or burb tank, I plan on moving the filler door further back if possible. Hopefully it won't move it so far back that I look like a moron at the pump. :bowroflwerd6:

i will be putting a blazer tank in my crew cab

i have thought about trying to route the filler up to the normal filler for the truck like you are thinking
or just put a filler door behid the wheel like a blazer
or find a way to rotate the filler tube on the tank and put the filler behind the lisence plate

If you do behind the license plate you'll have to use a different tank due to how the filler tube comes out of the tank.

i was thinking it might be able to be modified to work
maybe cut the tube and reweld it or rework it somehow
it was just a thought

its not a good idea to weld on a used tank it can be done by taking the sending unit out and filler hose off and ldraining the tank and let it dry then fill it with water before welding

i think the blazer gas door behind the wheel well would be the best easiest option

Yeah, you'd have to have the tank in front of you to see if a modded neck would work. I'm not going to say it's impossible but from I remember from doing this mod and looking at the tank that would be very difficult with the filler hole being on top of the tank and the tank having to be tucked up in there.

Now, with that said I have thought about locating a car that had the filler neck behind the license plate and take the tank from that along with the license plate assembly and seeing if that could be retrofitted to the back of the truck. That's be the way I'd take that mod if filling up from behind the plate :)

I got a buddy with a lifted stepside square that has a tank mounted in board of the frame like a gmt400 truck and not outside the frame like squares and his fills behind the plate frame.

Looks like that tank is definitely modded but looks like it probably works. How did he seal off the original filler hole?

it's a stepside and it's his show truck so most likely he welded the door shut on it. or maybe bought stepside fenders with no hole.
