I'm looking at doing dual exhaust from my headers back and was curious what muffler provides the best sound and performance ( power etc) and wat size pipe? I've been told 2 1/4 - 2 1/2.. I kinda like a loud deep tone.. I had a super 40 on an older jeep but I was told that muffler does nothing for u except make it sound good.

I personally wouldnt go bigger than 2 1/4, but of you like a loud, deep tone, get a short case magnaflow or Dynomax ultra flow.
Try to stay away from the flowmaster/spintech gimmicks.

I have 2-1/4 true duals with Continental Blue swingers. When all 4 barrels are open, IT SOUNDS GOOD.

Are those the big body glasspacks from the 60's -70's?

Center/Center offset will be fine for turndowns. Smaller the pipe = TQ larger diameter = HP if Im remembering correctly. What mods you got done to the truck?

If you are building the system from scratch, you can use any offset you want. Dont dump them before the axle...you will be sorry. If you dont go over the axle, at least run them out to the sides, in front of the rear tires.

It doesn't have to be before the axle it was just a thought. I've heard of people ending their exhaust by the axle that's y I mentioned it

Until recently, I would 100% agree with this. But a couple months ago I put new mufflers under the K20 Burb and just had them dump right before the axle. Now, they aren't a loud muffler at all, but I'll be darned if it's no louder inside the truck than it is outside (quiet). It goes against everything I've learned from previous vehicles.

Thats rare in a big ole echo chamber Burb. What mufflers? Maybe the underside is acting like a resonator?

All the way behind the axle is always best, especially when it comes to engine efficiency.

They are just the basic Thrush turbo mufflers.

Those are pretty tame from what I have heard on videos...even quieter with tailpipes, until you get on it, then they wake up.
