Anybody ever run a 2.5" lift with 33x12.50 tires?

I'm wanting to do some wheeling, but it'll primarily be an on street/dirt road truck, so nothing crazy. I know the ideal is 4" with 33's, but I just don't like the look of lifting that high, but I also do not want to have to trim my fenders. 2.5 is the shorter shackle flip that ORD sells, so it's a good option that's not so high. Any thoughts?

Backroads driving should be fine with no trimming. Depends on spring choice and rim width though.

I'm debating between RC and Superlift right now. I know neither is awesome, but I can afford them and this isn't a DD. The tire thing is still getting worked out, I may end up going with a 33x10.50 instead of a 12.50. That should buy me a lot of clearance.

A common 12.5 tire on an 8 inch rim would work very well. I'd personally choose the Superlift springs.

I'm running the stock 8"(I think) steel rims. I keep seeing that for a 12.5" you need a 10" rim though, are 8" rims ok?

Any particular reason for you going with Superlift?

It works dandy on an 8 inch rim, no problems whatsoever. Heck, I once ran a 35x15.5 on a stock 8 inch wide rim. It was a squeeze, but it worked fine.

Superlift springs are a little softer.

If you want to keep it that low and conservative, Not sure what tire you want to run, but I'm thinking of doing BF Goodrich All Terrain Radials that come in a 33x10.50. If you're not going to be slinging mud, the quiet smooth riding BFG All Terrains aren't bad at all. That 2in diffeencr in width is helpful to the mpg and also easier on the transmission if you're running a 700r4.

I just installed a Rough Country 2" lift on my 88' Suburban (new front springs & blocks in rear) and am running 33x12.50x15 on a 10" wide wheel and only had to do a little massaging with a sledge hammer (no cutting) to prevent rubbing. If you run an 8" wide wheel or go with the 33x10.50 you'll be more than ok.

I'm running a SM465, so being hard on my transmission isn't a concern. I want to run Cooper ST Maxx, but they don't come in a 33x10.50. I'm not a huge fan of the ride on the BFG's. My brother has a set of KO2's on his truck and my cousin just took KM2's off of his jeep and I didn't like the ride on either set. They are the best tire that's offered in a 33x10.50 though.

Any chance you remember where you had to knock to get it to fit? or have a picture?

Just the very bottom of the fender well, like the last 4" of where the trim is attached to the fenderwell.

I hammered the back side back a little and the front side forward a little, kind of made them roll up at a sharper angle than stock.

You'll have to remove the tire to get a good swing with a sledge hammer.

And I only moved it about an inch, that's why I say if you run a skinnier wheel and/or tire you'll be fine.

Unfortunately my stock wheels are 15x6, so I have to get wider ones for a 12.50 tire. I'm surprised you don't have any issues though, the general wisdom that I keep hearing is 33's won't fit without some lift. Then again my springs are sagged pretty bad, so mine would probably be a worst case.

My springs are really bad too & I never hesitated on getting the 33s
