Any Reason Not to Modify an Accel Coil?

I've had a few of them over the years. Actually had one die on me last year. It was probably old as dirt though.

I was wondering about that too.
In the mid 70s i had a "Disco Sucks" T shirt.

I don't know how old this Accel cap is, but it was obvious it had some time and mileage on it. It had a lot of road grime and the rotor and cap were due for replacement. So, it appears, this one should hold for a while longer.

Because there is enough room under the hood to store a VW, I'm debating on having a backup. Just can't decide what would be a good choice.

I've never ran old iron with HEI, so am yet in the learning stages, with regard to them. From what I gather, I could push the shorty plugs a LITTLE" and not have to sweat spark loss.

I know for a fact you can fit the accel coil under the stock AC Delco HEI coil cover.

Years ago I had that same coil on a car, for whatever reason the vaccum advance would only fit with the distributor “upside” down.
