I have a 1967 Buick 430 wildcat engine for a future project. Are these pretty good?
They're the same platform as the 455 Buick, just with 25 fewer cubes. One thing you want to watch for, these are known for cracked blocks around the rear cam bearing and freeze plugs.
Dad had a '67 Wildcat convertible he bought in 1976-77, that was parked because of this issue. Somewhere in my shop building, I have a good 430 block he bought for the engine rebuild he never got around to....
The original owner of that car was a pilot for Braniff. There were notes in the glovebox when we got it, where he'd taken it back to the Buick dealership, because "it runs out of power after 120 mph".... Considering how much car it was moving, that sounds like it did pretty good! I would think the 430 might have a little bit more room to clean up the bores than a 455, by virtue of being a smaller bore.
Prolly cost more to ship it to Oregon than it's worth though.....

I am also a gbody fan 87 grand national with c6 zo6 brakes and Hotchkis control arms, making it a GNX as I will not spend that much money on a regal. My long term project is a 67 impala SS pro street with 6.2ls mirror image turbos and air ride.

Now you're talking about one of my favorite cars, I love 67 68 big cars, especially Impalas.
