whats the difference in a air temp sensor (BWD/NIEHOFF Part # EC421) 7.00 dollars and a Thermal Air Temperature Control Valve (ACDELCO Part # 213116 ) 58.00 dollars These are on rock auto.com for a 86 chevy but a huge price difference in same catagory. Are they the same part?

welcome To GMSB!
Your down the valley in fresno, so I assume you have the Computer controlled quadrajet. Are you looking for the bi metallic sensor in the air cleaner for the heat riser door?
Both of those sensors that you mention are the same. ACDelco is the best, but if money is tight, the bwd should get you passed smog inspection.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I believe the thermal valve it the big ole cast iron valve that goes on the exhaust, with the thermal spring on it. The $7 part is probably the little valve on the under side of the air can.
