I have a chance to pick up a set of 3/4 ton axles with 4.10 gears for $300. The rear is a 14 bolt FF and the front i am assuming is a standard 10 bolt because I couldn't find a 44 or 60 stamped on the housing. Just wanting some opinions on if they are worth the money and its worth my time to swap out my 1/2 ton axles. Thanks!

you need to ask yourself do you need more than a half ton truck

not sure what you really do with it but a FF rear is the bees knees all you need is a dana 60 and you have to much strength, but like I said if you just tow your 20ft boat around I think a FF rear is an overkill

Has a lot to do with amount of lift/size of tires you want to run. Bigger brakes on the bigger axles sure help stopping a truck with bigger tires. If you plan on going big you should get them. 35 or 36" tires and down would be fine for the 1/2 ton axles but I wore out a shitload of u-joints, and broke an axleshaft, and exploded a front carrier with the 1/2 ton set up with 38s.

If your staying factory height, My truck had 4.11's in a 12bolt/10bolt setup(on 32" tires). And those gears had no problem rolling my truck around. I could also smoke them pretty good :D

Also,if You are planning on changing over to the 3/4 ton springs be prepared to move the rear spring hanger brackets back to the next hole.
Now I need to go get Me some grade eight bolts and self locking nuts to put it all back togehter again.LOL
