Im considering doing an ls swap on a 79 1 ton i just picked up. I have access to a 2001 suburban that is in tact with a 5.3 vortec around 260000 miles. I haven't seen many C30 conversions so I was curious if there are any differences between the C10 swaps. Im pretty new to this as well.

I can't imagine it being much different if at all. I'm more concerned with the mileage on that engine.....unless your going to rebuild it. Then with the price of the rebuild, you'd prolly spend less for one with lower miles. Just an opinion.

Another thought. The engines are plentyful and not very expensive. So you could always do the swap and change out the engine if/when it's needed. The hardest part (getting the vehicle setup for it) is already done. Just change the block and go.
