Well, with the front cover and spark plugs removed, spinning the engine over with the starter yielded no oil pressure or leak at suspected cam plate. Next I removed the oil filter and turned engine over, still no oil. At this point it’s looking like a plugged pickup tube, bad pick up tube o-ring or bad oil pump. More FD tomorrow.
Might check the "barbell" behind the rear cover. You could also manual pressure oil system through fitting on left front of the block

I think you found it! I would recommend replacing the whole pickup tube at this point. Also make DAMN sure to use the correct o'ring and pre lube and seat it properly. Cut/damaged o'ring can lead to issues. Ask me how I know that!

I know there are two different o-rings. Not sure how to determine which to use.

Save the old pickup and o'ring so you can match them up. I always use Melling oil pumps and they come with both o'rings and illustration of the proper use. Not sure if you are replacing the pump?

The pump could have a jammed relief valve also.. if it got some junk in it it can jam up like that. If it isn't that front cam plate, the other side of that oil gallery is plugged by the rear cover, so it could be that as well. I would recommend replacing the oil bayonet plug and rear main seal while you have the rear cover off if you make it that far.

I had the transmission go out on my 2011 Suburban over the 4th of July weekend. It was also getting low oil pressure and throwing a code. I'm pretty sure my issue was the sending unit and screen, but I also had a nasty leak from the back of the motor. So while I have the trans out, I pulled the rear cover last night and have changed the bayonet plug, resealed the bottom of the cover(that's where the majority of the leak was coming from), installed a new cover gasket, and will put a new main seal in while I'm at it. I also had a very minor weeping leak coming from the outer bottom of the main seal(which I thought was an odd place for it to leak). Hopefully tonight I can finish the rear cover replacement and start her up to check the oil pressure and do a few other engine related things while I'm waiting on two replacement molded pistons to come in for the transmission rebuild.
My oldest son and I just replaced the rear main in his 05 Silverado. It was leaking about a quart every two weeks. It’s a lot of work to get the to seal. But it was fun working with him on it. He learned a lot on that job.

That looks good. I put the blue LS6 springs on my daily driven '05 Silverado when I replaced the cam. You may want to get valve stem seals as well.

What brand oil filter have you been using?

That was a FRAM filter that came apart. Won’t be using them any longer. WIX and Napa gold from now on.

When this whole deal started I was suspect of the filter. I changed out the FRAM for a Napa gold and contacted FRAM. They where informative/helpful and asked for the old filter. They sent me a new filter and postage paid box to return the suspect filter. It left here over a week ago. At that time I had no idea the element had come apart. I thought the drain back valve had failed. I plan on calling them again in the morning with details of what I found in the pickup screen. I have a sample bagged and ready if they ask for one.

Not positive but I think that the Napa gold filters are made by Wix
