I've had Rusty for several months now and have repaired and changed several things. One thing I have not addressed is the trans? vibration.

The truck runs great and smooth. The first time I drove it I thought it died at a stop sign because I couldn't here it or feel it running.

The problem I have is when I start from a stop. There is a vibration when the RPMs are up and the trans is in 2nd gear. As soon as it shifts it stops. I can run down the freeway in high gear and its smooth. There is no knocking or ticking from the engine. Bad Converter? anyone else had a problem like this?

That's odd. I'd guess it's the trans, but really I have no clue.

I once had a speed and rpm sensitive vibration on a 2*4 truck with a 400 trans, wound up being a bad transmission mount. It looked fine on the outside but the rubber had separated from the metal part. Might also check the u-joints, missing balance weights on the shaft, and maybe disconnect the rear u-joint and rotate the shaft 180*. But those are usually constant vibrations. Might check the engine mounts too.

Have you found the source of the vibration yet?

Sorry Guys

Have been working on my Nova project. Haven't had a chance to dig in to the trans on Rusty yet. It still drives fine but if it blows I will figure it out the hard way. I have family in town this week. May be a while.

I promise you'll be the first to know when I figure it out.
