Ok, so the speedo just bounces every now and then? doesnt show constant speed?
If you have not disconnected the battery in a while, you may be able to get a code or 2. each code will flash 3 times, first code is always 12.

It shows constant speed and bounces, the bounce disappears the faster you go. So at 5 mph it looks like a windshield wiper, lol....

If my CRS doesn't kick in, I'll get some video of it tonight.

Ok, I just pulled it around the back of the job and it's not that bad, lol. So the next chance I get, I will adjust the timing like you mentioned earlier, disconnect the battery, do a re-learn drive, and then try to pull codes again?

Cool, the re learn process is pretty quick if you drive around for a bit at 30-35 mph...i know, its a waste of gas.

HR, im thinking, if he can successfully check for codes, and vss code is not there, mhe should replace the tcc solenoid and the pressure switch....whatcha think?

I was thinking at least the pressure switch on the VB, but while in there, hell yes, do both and be done. Good idea. I hadn't give much deep thought to this yet, been busy on the A833/NP205 project, but I was thinking that F pin needed jumped to something else, not grounded. I know what you're thinking though. I do beleive the pressure switch actually grounds for activation. And it could aslo be too, that you're correct, and as C4 mentioned, brittle wires in the pan, something is grounding out in the trans. But, he seems to be certain, he's not getting lock up.

Does TBI, really need a re-learn? I know OBD 2 systems benefit from this, but was thinking TBI needed it.

Yup, even the OBD1 systems have adaptive learning....ever change a battery on a tbi or tpi vehicle, and it idles a little crappy after?

I am thinking his wires are good, because he got a positive reading through pin F, which yes, is a computer controlled ground(it branches off inside the harness, one end goes to the ecm, has a diode i think, and the other goes to pin f, no diode) but he is seeing power through the TCC solenoid coil. If anything in that wire was grounding in the trans, it would be locked up until he hit the brake, cutting power on the positive side.
Im trippin on the fact that it blew a fuse.
He can also ground F by jumping it to A, which is the chassis ground that is used for grounding pin B for diagnostics.

That does make sense since he's getting power to F of the ALDL. If the harness is OK, then is should be safe to assume replacing the pressure valve and the solenoid, he should have it corrected. They are not expensive parts, so while there I'd just do them both, and change the filter while there too.

How long has it not worked 89S? Is it possible you pinched a wire or wires when you did your heads?

I priced them out on RA , around $40 for both. But if the check engine light reveals a VSS problem, that will have to be dealt with first. 3rd gear, I think lockup is commanded at 33 mph.

Yup, if he's getting a bad VSS signal to the ECM, the ECM will NOT delegate or give the Lock up command I don't beleive.
