700r shifts hard

Hey guys, 1987 Silverado suburban 2 Wheel Dr. 134000 miles. Does not shift easily from 1st to 2nd gear. This is the original engine and the original transmission. Will the TV cable need ajustment. It has never been moved. Are there any other suggestions. Any and all help is greatly appreciated
Let me add that it doesn’t shift hard it takes a long time for it to shift out of first unless you lift off the accelarator

Sounds like a TV cable, but if you can turn the throttle blades under the hood to full throttle and TV cable just gets tight, adding slack to it might make it worse at higher throttle inputs for the transmission.
