Hey everyone , I have a 1983 c1500 with a 6.2 not running and I want to put a running 1992 6.5 turbo into it . What can I expect in the way of issues with this install . The 83 is all original as is the 92 , I just pulled the 6.5 and I am pulling it apart for inspection . Thanks in advance for any replys.

Is your truck air conditioned?

That's the first problem. Then there's exhaust.

The A/C is a significant issue. The exhaust you can figure out.

Most of the rest of it is one for one.

Well, there's the air intake,....

I don't have any answers for ya but I follow a guy in Washington State on the socials that has a turbo 6.2/NV4500 combo and loves it. Should be a sweet little truck when you're done

Intake going to be a problem ? I can see ill have to get creative with the down pipe .

The intake isn't a really big issue, you'll just have to be creative. The rest of the engine package is comparable to a 6.2L and in many cases, a gas engine. It's all GM.

Hello all , finally got my c15 on the road . Couldn't use the 6.5 that I bought because the webbing was all cracked so I found a humvee 6.2 with 16k miles on it and put that in using all the 6.5 turbo stuff . I custom made the exhaust which goes around the frame rail and then straight to the back behind the wheel , I made the tailpipe look like my duramax tip . I put a rebuilt 700r4 with a K case and upgraded internals and a new torque converter , I'm just fiddling around with the governor now to fine tune my shifting points . I hooked up the lock up on the converter and the truck just cruises beautifully on the highway with 3.42 gears .It has 2.5 inch drop spindles in the front and a flip kit in the rear no frame notch , shock extenders and bump stops . Found a huge mouse nest in the heater housing that I had to take of also put a patch in the fire wall because of it . Had to throw out all the underlay and clean the inside to get rid of the pee smell and a used heater box but she's all newly insulated now . Now I'm waiting for a new master cylinder cause it has started leaking now , a lot of stuff needed replacing for a truck that sat for 20 years in a barn thank goodness . I can only attach 5 pics.
