Well bought a 1986 chevy LWB 1/2 ton truck about a month ago. Was going to sell it to a family member for what I paid (original intention) but he backed out due to other reasons. I'm technically 3rd owner the second owner was the grandson that did absolutely nothing to it. The interior is pretty much trashed out (dash, door panels, seat torn up). Just mainly normal wear and tear. Overall I got a good deal I believe because with a tune up, rebuilt carb, and complete change of all fluids it would run like a top.

The wiring harness is PERFECT on the inside. The engine compartment is a little different story. I was hoping maybe I could get some answers on to what the wires go to and what the switches are for.

It is all numbers matching 305, turbo350, 10bolt open rear. Cruise control, power locks, power windows, power steering, power brakes, intermittent wipers, aux. gas tank, and a standard H.E.I. distributor.

I thought it was a good deal compared to what people ask for them. Just needs some tlc. I'm replacing door locks and ignition cylinder tomorrow due to any key can be used right now. Lol

can you post some pics of that ignition swap? i need to do mine too... the key is hard as hell to turn on (then a pita to switch off and get the key out) and switches itself off randomly unless i keep forward pressure on the key

Do you have a tilt column with the steering wheel tilted? Mine was like that and then one day I made it be perpendicular to column and immediately the key could be turned with ease. Getting the key out was booger until I sprayed just a tiny bit silicone lubricant to help the tumblers move. It still hangs when cold but it releases the key a whole lot better now.

@79K10, 89suburban did an amazing picture by picture on tearing down the steering column and the first couple pages are of how to get to the ignition cylinder. It is in the Suspention and steering tab. It's a Sticky at the top of the threads. Like I said very very good write up.

Love that color, wish mine was that color.

Still curious to know what the solenoids are for...
