They didn't come as a standard transmission from what I understand. It was a special order option.

RPO Code MM7 and Pictures

I have read a lot regarding these MM7 RPO Code Trucks and they are very rare and if you find one you will find it even harder to find the original shifter cover for the interior as they all cracked. They are unlike any shifter in a Chevy or GMC I have ever seen.

I purchased one of these trucks and it is the following:

GMC
1985
4x4
350 Engine
A833 od Transmission

I have plenty of pictures if anyone wants to see them, They answer alot of questions that I have seen on this website.

Thanks,

Jeff

Very neat, you got any pics of the trans itself? Something that would make it stand out/easily recognizable about them? Many trucks dont have the rpo code sheet anymore, or you see a trans out of a vehicle and it would be nice to be able to say "I'll give ya $50 for that old trans" lol.

1985 GMC 4x4 with MM7 4-Speed Manual with O/D - Rare

Here is the additional pictures of the transmission, linkage and the truck itself. I am looking at selling this item on craigslist or ebay. I hope due to its rare MM7 RPO Code and the ton of work I have put into this it will sell for a decent price.:grd:

What kinda mileage do I get

It gets pretty good mileage considering its a "Flying Brick" and a 4x4. 18+ to 20 with a tail wind.

That's not bad. So more like 16-17mpg in normal wind. I figured it might do OK with a V6 and manual trans.

Ahhh damn. I'd have kept it original. Noway to get the original 4.3 back or is it long gone??? Why get rid of that one for another one? Looks to be in good shape.
