I understand that your current gearing sucks and 3.73's would be an improvement... but it will still suck. If you going to the trouble/expense of a gear swap, it would be silly not to go with a 4.10 or a 4.56 ratio.

As for quad shocks, they WERE available on a Chevy. I put them on my Burb, and those brackets came from a Blazer originally.

I totally agree here. I'd say the 3.73 gear would be fine with stock 31in tire. But since you have OD, and 700r4 isn't the strongest transmisison, and you intend to run a tall tire, for certain without doubt, I'd consdier nothing taller than a 4.10 if you are willing to go thru the expense of a gear change. Now, if you were able to acquire a set of 3.73 axles used and ready to bolt in for a good price, by all means take it and rock with it. Its still a drastic improvement over 2.73. As it is now, I woudln't even be considering using OD in that truck with 2.73's. Even with stock 31in tires, that truck doesn't need a 700r4.

Good to know about the quad shocks. I couldn't see why they would be a GMC only option. That would suck. I'd actually prefer a Chevy, but its splitting hair frivoulous and I'll like my GMC just as much as the Chevy.
