Got my 4in lift done today.Found some other issues while working on it like lower ball joints shot. We also redid all the sway bar bushings added 4 rancho shocks up front and 2 in the rear, centered steering wheel and test drove it.The ride is not to bad.I didnot use the 3 bolt arm to get better geometry on the drag link but will up grade to it later if needed.Next step is 373 gears, ball joints, new front brakes and rotors that ive had laying around. One of the guys has some 16in rims with 35s for free but I think that would be overkill. Will grab them anyway for free.I have some 15in slotted aluminun rims that will get 33s.Hope yall like it.

Looks good man! Some things to keep an eye on, front & rear rubber brake lines, park brake cables (noticed yours were tight), front leaf shackles (might come in contact with frame from the longer traveling front springs using the short stock shackles), and rear wheel hop from the blocks. Wheel hop is usually more accentuated by standard trans trucks than automatics. Some things to consider down the road, rear shackle flip kit to eliminate the rear blocks for half the price of lift springs, longer front leaf shackles, and maybe a sway bar spacer if it seems to be limiting travel or making the ride harsh. But really, attitude with altitude! It improved the stance of the truck a lot in my opinion.

Looks good! If you have the 700R4, you definitely don't want 3.73 gears... they suck balls with 33's (I have that horrid combo). You would want 4.10's or 4.56's, especially if there's a chance you might end up running 35's.

If you do have the 700R4/NP208 I would go for the 4.56s, even with 33s your 70 mph highway speed would be turning about 2,300 rpms, 2,100 with 35s. Right in the meat of the truck's power instead of ~1,800 rpms with 3.73s. Not to mention the pep you'll get from the lower gears.

And the added strain on the 700r4 that likley will not live very long turning the bigger tire without some help from the gear ratio.
If up until you either go with Th350 or 400 and keep in mind, doing that, you are going to have at least .50 taller first gear going away from the 700r4, or do the rear gear change, I don't think I'd use OD at all with the 33 or 35 in tires. You'll cook that 3-4 clutch pack in very short order, even with TC locked up.

Also I realized you hooked up your stabilizer. Depending on your purpose and intent for the truck, I wouldn't take it off as of yet, but I'd disconnect it and drive it around some corners and curves and see how it feels. You might find you want to take it off. The stabilizer will take away alot of your flex and even some needed traction up front in some situations, especially if you are peg leggin it up front and no LSD or Locker, making it rear wheel drive only.

Thanks guys. This rig has 273s in it now I think the 373s would be a vast improvment. Intended use is hunting, back woods camping a little muddin.Tomorrow I will take it out on one of the goat trails I frequent and see how it dose.I really dont feel any different ride quality change but this is just around town. The 33s with the slotted aluminun are next. The 16in 35sare in my garage.Deffinatly needs more gear DUH.Oh yeah Hot Rod that is oem quad shocks in front ( I think you told me RPO Z75)If I rember correctly.

Yes sir. That is it. I was not sure if it was you or someone else, couldn't remember, I was gonna say you'd make #3 with the quad shocks, but you are actually the same #2 that I know of. I can't see why it would be true, but yours is also a GMC, a local guy here told me the quad shocks were only an OPTION to the GMC and Chevy couldn't even get quad shocks OEM. I find that a bit hard to believe, but who am I to say.

Oh yeah, you need you some gear. If were me, I'd be keeping my eyes open for a set of 3/4 ton axles. I see them occasionally around here for $250-$300 for matching sets of Dana 44 or 10bolt front and 14b FF rear axle, most commonly 4.10's. Of course both set up for 8 lug, but they'd bolt right in and then not only got a good gear ratio, but stronger rear end. Down side would be, having to change out your wheels to 8 lug and you'd need to do a little rear driveshaft work. Probably shorten it a bit, and go to a combo U joint for the 3/4 yoke, or when you have it shortended, have them put the matching u joint on the driveshaft. They'd be used but likely still in good working condition. Prolly no more than $500 for the entire set up with dshaft work but still cheaper than a regear in both front and rear axles and have the added strength and tougher brakes. JMO and your 700r4 will love you for it.

Again, I don't get jealous or envious of others trucks, but I do get jealous of their space to keep them, or equipment to work on them.

2 Post lift !!! The time, agony, aches and pains that would save.... :High 5:

I know what you mean. No need to discuss the adder or flavoring of choice to the soda.
