Hey guys, after throwing a couple pistons in my old motor i have gotten around to putting another 350 TBI in my 87 silverado. However when i pull the brown and black tracer timing wire the engine will not start. It runs fine with the wire plugged in, but i cant unplug it to time it to 0. Any ideas on what could be causing this?

Thanks for the help,

Dan

Tried that to, it immediately dies out. I timed my old engine and it worked fine but i cant figure out why it would die when i take control away from the computer.

Have you tried advancing the distributor till you can get it to run?

I don't know what is causing your problem, but the TBI motors really like more timing than what the factory called for. Mine have all been happy in the 8* to 12* range, with 10* or less still running fine on regular 87 fuel.

Is it at operating temperature when you pull the wire apart?
