Ok, I had a set of valve covers, years ago. I think they were in the GM performance parts catalog, at the time. They were perimeter bolt valve covers with the embossed ribs like the center bolt VC’s, and were a nice metal gray. They were steel. Anyone have any? Or know the application?

No lettering or anything on them?

That description fits the '85-'86 305 TPI valve covers used in Camaro/Firebird. Perimeter bolt, ribbed face, silvery gray paint.

I had a set, but sold them on an engine a while back. I may have bought them new. I work at a Chevy dealer at the time. Or they were some take-offs a crate engine. Good GM quality.

Being that they were only used for two years and one application, they may be hard to find these days. Fortunately, this is one of those cases where scarce probably doesn't mean valuable though.

I've got a pair of them from my '86, but was probably going to put them back on to make for more of a sleeper out of the car. I'll keep my eyes peeled for a pair though.

I remember seeing them on the LT1's when I was a youngster and always liked them, I think Dad got them to go with his TPI and tossed them on a shelf years ago but ended up going with aftermarket covers anyway.

ETA:
The first engine he built for this car used the perimeter bolts, he bought some knock off version of the finned covers that were cool when he was a kid. Those turned out to be junk, when he re-did the motor he did these that have a similar classic ribbed look.
