So you can tell by comparing pics, there is a definate difference in 3/4 and 1 ton rear axle mounting. Not only are the shocks on the 1 ton swing in opposite directions, they are also inboard of the frame instead of outboard of the frame. This is likely why the 3/4 and 1/2 tons put the springs further from the frame, is to make room for the shock mounts to the frame.
So that settles it. Even the SRW 3/4 ton Crew Cabs have 1 ton set up rear axles. Which kinda hurts you in a way. 3/4 ton axles are much more common and easier to find. But why would you want to change it?

If you can do it, by all means, do the Dana 60. If funds permit, I'd be all over the Dana 60.

BTW, those spring hangers look like they're aftermarket lowering hangers. Is your Crew Cab lowered at all?

the 3/4 ton crew cabs used the 1 ton frame and the 1 ton spring hangers

3/4 ton crew would be the same axle as a 1 ton crew single rear wheel same perch width and shock mounts

they may have the small drum brakes or the big ones depends what options it had

the crew cabs used the 1 ton frame and axles weather it was 3/4 or 1 ton

only difference would be size of the rear brakes and spring packs more load capacity with 1 ton

this only applies to crew cabs not single cabs

and all the 3/4 ton crews i have seen were 2 wheel drive not saying they did not make a 3/4 ton 4x4 crew cab but i have never seen one

I've seen 3/4 ton 4x4 crew cabs, they were all '76 or older and had a D44 front axle. I don't know if they had the 1 ton frame and rear suspension.

Thanks guys for all the helpful info maybe ill be able to find a 4x4 Dana 60 donor before the summer so I can start my 4x4 swap. If I can't find a Dana 60 for the right price just might have to go with the 44 but if that's what I have to do I guess it would make it cheaper
