That info might be hard to find. Most 2wd K5's were older with a 12 bolt rear, and I think they came with a th350 long tail. It's been a while, but I think that's what my old one ran.

Actually, I think by the time the 10 bolt was used, there were no 2wd K5's anymore?

well thanks for the info guys:)i have a 86 k5 4x4 moded to a 2wd/full convertable(used a 80 c10,and a 74 k5 as donors)so i still have the 12 bolt 6-lug rear i could use if nessasary? and :sorry: the trans is indeed a th350 long tail.KLEEDUS-if you could find that driveshaft in your sparetime that would be GREAT!!?,as id realy would like to run th10 bolt "5-lug' rearend(as so it would match the front, and i wouldnt have to use adapters?)BUCKET- is there anyway to find out the length of the older ds you ran on your 77? idealy im looking at getting a ds from a g10-20 van from a salvage yard then take it to the local ds shop for the "shortening"it would need for my application? the th350 will be a temporary trans along with the 454,(have the freshly rebuilt combo laying around, that i bartered for a tpi/700r4 i had in one of my gbodies)to get the body/interior work done, then i will put in my 6.0 lq9/4l80e that is currently on the stand.

I haven't had that 2wd K5 in about 13 or 14 years.

If you are planning on just getting another shaft shortened (that's what I would do too), you can get a shaft from a pickup or van with the right yokes that might be long enough. The driveline shop just needs to know the length between your output shaft and the center of the rear u-joint, while at ride height, so they can make it the proper length.

search how to measure a driveshaft on the web
and find a driveshaft shop they can help you

yours will be different than a factory 2 wheel drive

the 4x4 uses a different front spring hanger on the rear spring than a factory 2 wheel drive uses.

so your rear ride height will be different even if its lowered

that's why you should measure what yours is and go off that

I have a 4x4 jimmy I plan to convert to a 2 wheel drive soon. how did you line up the front x member

i have some factory rear spring hangars as well as springs, that i was waiting to put on till i got some more feedback/advice.as far as lining up the front crossmember,it was quite easy, just basically removed all the 4wd stuff and set the whole front ends side by side(as i cut the entire front of the 80 2wd from the firewall forward)for comparasion, then removed all the nessasary bolt heads/rivets from the 2wd xmember, placed a jack under the 2wd xmember, lifted it into place on the 4wd frame, measured 10 TIMES,then marked and went through a **** load of drill bits!!! i also had four extra hands to help:) so do you recommend i use the 2wd hangars/springs with the 10 bolt/5lug(im going to be removing the lower helper spring and lower most leaf and making a perch with them for a 2.5 drop)as im looking for the lowest i can go? thats a NICE jimmy you have there im running the same clip on my 86 but with c1500 composite headlights.

do you have 2 wheel drive blazer spring hangers they are even different than 2 wheel drive truck hangers.

the 2 wheel drive blazer hangers are like the drop hangers for a 2 wheel drive truck.

I will try to get pics of them

the two wheel drive blazer hangers are almost the same as the c10 drop hangers.

The blazer hangers also mount the spring a little tighter to the frame than a pickup hanger. Only the newer ones though, the '77 and older K5's used regular pickup hangers.

2wd crew cab (C30) hangers might be the best bet. Still probably would take some minor trimming and/or hole drilling, but the spring spacing should be close. Actual 2wd K5 hangers are probably very hard to find.
