Hey All,

My truck is a ‘77 C10 sbc400/th350.

I need a driveshaft. I think I’ve confused myself.

To measure the length of the driveshaft that I need, I measured from the trans housing to the yoke on the rearend.
That’s 72.5”. That is how you measure your length, correct?
When I measured this, I have the front of the frame below the radiator on jackstands, and the rear end/axles are sitting on jackstands. Is that OK?

The rear yoke will need a 1-1/16” ujoint so that is a 1310 size, correct?

The length of the new driveshaft is measured my center to center of the yokes, correct?

Also, I think that my slip shaft is 27 spline?? My vision is so blurry right now.

I just want to make sure that I’m doing this correctly.

Any help is appreciated!

Typically, you measure from the tip of the output shaft, to the centerline of the u-joint. So even though you didn't measure from the correct spots, it looks like your current measurement will be fairly close.

Also, as long as there's weight on the rear springs and the axle isn't hanging, you should be good. And yes, a th350 has a 27 spline output.
