I just bought a 1990 C3500 Crewcab. Looking up parts online, I see a lot of listings only cover 81-87. Some do cover 81-89. Is the 90-91 an oddball? I'm thinking most parts should fit. Right now I'm need a fuel tank, possibly straps and saddles. Also Want to replace all the brake lines. LMC only lists brake lines for 1/2 tons. I have the Hydroboost, so I know it won't we a direct fit, but I've made brakelines in the past, so that doesn't worry me. Another problem I have, is if I enter 1990 into a website, it shows parts for the GM400 series. I'm anxious to get this on the road and enjoy it.

Your problem is most of the squarebody family died in 1987, C10 K10 went away in 86. 87 R+V series were 1 year only, and all the light duty trucks became GMT400. So Square stuff after 87 is going to be harder, and some of it you'll have to use some common sense and buy stuff for earlier more common squares. I would bet your gas tanks and senders will be the same as an 87 r/v 10.

‘87-‘91 square bodies are “R” (2wd) and “V” 4wd series, beginning in ‘88 the new body style GMT400 took over the “C” and “K” series designations.

Most of the parts from ‘81+ interchange thru ‘91 unless it’s related to a system that’s not shared with all years, like your fuel injection. The tanks are baffled so you’ll need a tank for ‘87-‘91.

nvrenuf, you're right, I forgot. This is my 4th squarebody over the years and I forgot about the designation change, even though I had a 87 V10. I'll edit my sig.

For chassis parts you should be common back to 1987 (first year for TBI) and back to 1981 for non fuel related stuff.

Some appearance items (front grille and bumpers, interior trim ) are unique to 88/89ish and newer.

Edit: sorry should have refreshed before posting.
