Hi, my name is Dusty.
After driving a 1994 Toyota Celica for the last 2 years, and having a mid-life crisis (LOL), I sprung and bought an 82 GMC Sierra Classis LWB yesterday.

I missed having a truck for the last few years, and wanted something easy to work on and tinker under the hood.

Pretty much a one-owner truck, always in Alabama, NO RUST, Great/Straight body, and immaculate original interior!

I'm not much of a "Performance" guy, although I am anxious to get back under the hood, and maybe learn as I go along!

Here is what the details are on the truck and motor from the original CL ad:

305 C.I.D HO, Automatic trans. Power steering, Power disc brakes, Tilt steering wheel, Power windows and door locks, Factory air, Dual fuel tanks and dual exaust. Truck has 114k miles, but refurbished engine and transmission were installed at 98k miles. Engine has flat top pistons, 92 Camaro swirl port heads, .434 competition cam, Edelbrock intake with Quadrajet carb, and exaust headers. Air compressor is not hooked up.

------------------
It's been raining HARD here for 2 days,
so after buying it, I have only had a chance to drive it one mile home and park it, and don't know WHAT it will do if I really get into the throttle.

Just some quick opinions, does the motor build specs sound Ok?

Looking forward to learning all I can on here, and I will try to get some Pics up shortly!

Welcome to GMSB. Sounds like a nice truck even though it does have a Wee O Five.

We're pic ****** around here and thrive on truck porn. Post up some pics when you get a chance, or start you a Under Construction thread in the proper category where you can document and keep track of all your repairs, upgrades and maintaining tasks. Also where you can ask for opinions and ask for help when you're in a bind.

PS I corrected your original post on the mileage.

It appears that the truck was originally Navy Blue on bottom, and maybe silver on top? The paint job is not a BAD ONE (no evidence of bad taping-off, etc...), although it is starting to peel on places like: the underside lip of the bed, between the bed and cab, etc.., and that's how I noticed it.

Also, it's a paint job that doesn't look like it has much "clear coat," if that makes sense....Not all "SHINY" like factory paint.

Wondering if a buffer and some GOOD Wax would do anything?

Welcome to GMSB! That's a pretty sweet truck! Sounds like a decent motor from what you listed.

Looks like it was the same color scheme as my 85 K10 originally. Silver over Dark Blue, with Silver metal dash and blue interior.
