1981 C10 Horn Button problems

i will attach a picture to show what the big problem is and that is we cant figure out how to put the horn button back in the steering wheel. it also looks like there is no way for the horn to be sounded if i pushed on the cap with the button inside. please help if you can!

two screws to the dash and your good to go.

As said in first post that will not work in the steering column. I'm almost betting someone took the column apart at one point and lost a part or didn't get something back in right. more than likely you will have to diassemble the top of column and figure out what is missing or broke.

A lot of times the wiring that feeds the column mounted switches (horn, wipers, directionals, etc.) gets messed up deep within the coulmn. Probably due to the twisting and pulling that happens when the steering wheel is rotated (nearly all the time).

When the problem gets to be too much of a pain in the butt, many people opt to cut the wires and splice in an external switch rather than tear the column apart.

They hacked the wiring too...Easiest thing to do usually...Go find a complete tilt column.

Anyone know if the steering coloum from a 90s style will work. I seen some 88s with the thick steering wheel and looks like a bulky steering coloum. Anyone done this?
